Hair For You is a nurse-led initiative developed at Children’s National Hospital to close a critical gap in clinical care: the lack of standardized, inclusive scalp and hair assessment and care practices. Through national competencies, evidence-informed education and practical implementation tools, Hair For You empowers clinical teams to deliver personalized scalp and hair care to all patients.
The program, which is grounded in the American Nurses Association (ANA) scope, standards and Code of Ethics, champions respectful and individualized care for every patient—regardless of hair type or texture.
